“The Gaza Monologues”– (2010-2015)
Student play. In 2010, ASHTAR Theatre decided that it is time to make the voices of our children in Gaza heard and let at least their monologues travel to known places and be heard from people outside their prison Gaza... The Gaza Mono-Logues are personal stories of 33 young ASHTAR Theatre Students from Gaza which were sent out to the world and translated into 14 languages, and performed simultaneously on October 17th 2010 by over 1500 youngsters in more than 60 cities in 36 countries around the Globe. On November 29th 2010, The Gaza Mono-Logues reached the harbor of the UN headquarters in New York and were performed twice in its venues. Ever since, ASHTAR Theatre and its partners and friends around the World continue to perform the Gaza Mono-Logues. New participants and theatres are always welcome to join our global initiative. In Gaza, the Gaza Monologues was produced in 2010, and directed by Ali Abu Yaseen. In Ramallah the Gaza Monologues was produced in the years: 2010,2011 and in 2013, and directed by Mohammad Eid. In the year 2014, it was redirected by Bayan Shbib. |
